Welcome to Just Kids Academy, formally known as Christian United Academy.  We are an elite all-inclusive school that was founded by Mrs. Shara L. Bartlett in 2010. Our curriculum is local and international based so each child can learn the best way they can as well as gain more knowledge worldwide to better our youth for the future of Our Bahama Land. We are not equipped to take/handle children who are, on the spectrum, Autistic, Deaf, LD(Learning Disability), disabled, Speech Delay, ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder) Slow/delayed, or suffer from behavior or learning difficulties.

We provide quality childcare with a passion for teaching and an environment for children and our teachers to grow. Being owned by a family means love and care go into every detail of the program. Our focus is to provide a welcoming and safe environment for every child. JKA learns through fun and play with a safe place to have hands-on exploration and endless growth opportunities.

  • Why is my child still crying even after a month?
Children cry for many reasons that may seem alarming to parents: New environment, separation anxiety, another student crying, having trouble adjusting to the class rules, don't like their daily schedule, not willing to do schoolwork, not willing to become independent, etc. Your worries are normal and just as the child has to adjust, so do the parents. Consider your child as an individual and speak with them in ways that they will understand as well as work alongside with the teacher to make both child and parent comfortable.
  • Why is my child taking long with potty training?
Parenting style can affect the potty-training method and even the seasons play a part in how long it takes to potty train a toddler2, so it's best to work alongside the teacher in potty training your child. Potty training success hinges on physical, developmental and behavioral milestones not age. The average length it takes toddlers to learn the process is about six months. Girls learn faster, usually completing toilet training two to three months before boys do. Boys can have a six-month delay in potty training compared to girls, though this varies for each individual child.
  • When is it best to speak to my child's teacher?
After class or booking an appointment. The mornings are used to prepare as well as keeping the class and students organized and monitored during drop off time. Meeting at that time makes it difficult for the teacher to do their jobs.
  • Why do most or some of my child's snacks come back home?
Away-from-home snacks are sometimes better to pack. During the first month or a few months thereafter, the child may not eat very much. As they adjust to their new class /school. Teacher's may give encouragement but won't force them to eat if they choose not to.
  • Should I be concerned when my child eats his snacks but not lunch?
Most times kids have different eating habits as they grow. If a child will not eat anything but their snacks, it is better than not eating anything at all. When this happens its best to send milk or a supplement.
  • What happens to my child's books and supplies at the end of the school year?
Your child books and class supplies will be sent home at the end of year progress report day. It is the parent's responsibility to collect your child's items during that time.
  • Why is my child in so many conflicts, fights or a victim of a fight.
A child's home environment plays a big part to answer this question. Some children are accustomed to rough play, so it will be what they expect of their peers at school. Some rough play may result in your child being punished to correct this behavior. We advise to discourage this type of behavior. If your child is the victim, it may be because they aren't reporting the aggressive child to the teacher, so the teacher won't have the opportunity to correct the behavior. Encourage your child to talk.
  • What is the best way to assist my child in learning faster / catch-up?
You can request a copy of the A-Beka lessons form the office, and provide supplementary work at home that corresponds. Do not push your child too hard; home should still be a break from school added homework is also provided.
  • Am I annoying my child's teacher by asking how my child is doing every day?
It is the teachers jobs to ensure that each parent is up to date on their child. However it can be stressful if the teacher has already placed your child's daily activities on the school app and the same questions are asked. We suggest you make yourself available and if your child's teacher approaches you with a concern deal with it accordingly. You can ask the teacher occasionally, but every day is not necessary.
  • How much should I help with homework?
Only assist if needed by teachers choice. Homework is usually reviewof classwork. Allow the child to do it on their own. The parents job is to guide them not to do it for him.
